As one of the most popular holidays celebrated over the world, Christmas is a great time to reconnect with people with whom you have not had the opportunity to meet for a while. This can also include family members who have been away for a certain period of time for work or education purposes and for some reason or the other haven’t been able to come back home for the holidays.
Most of us have to leave home to pursue our dream careers or degrees and some of us may not be able to travel back home over the holidays. But that is no reason not to keep in touch with them. During Christmas, you must write to your loved ones to express your love for them and let them know you miss them. If you have a son or a daughter who is away at college or working in another city or country, you would want to write to them to wish them for Christmas.
Below is a sample Christmas letter to a daughter who is away at college from a father who misses her.

Dear John
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
It has been much too long that I heard from you. I am sure you have been very busy with the academic year coming to an end and your exams. I would like to wish you and your friends a very happy Christmas and a brilliant New Year!
While we will not be together this Christmas (and it is the first time we have not celebrated Christmas together), I want you to know that you are always in my thoughts and prayers. I was recently looking through the photographs that we took last Christmas and on the Christmas the year before and couldn’t help but feel nostalgic about the fun times we had.
All is well at home. Your mother and I went Christmas shopping some days ago and bought you the sweater that you wanted. I have already sent you a parcel with the sweater and a few more presents that I am sure you would love to own. You should receive them shortly.
Both your mother and I will miss your presence during the holidays and hope that the New Year proves to be good to you. We anticipate seeing you in April during Easter holidays.
With love, xxxxx
